I was invited by the Franki app to attend the grand opening of Robata JINYA in Hollywood, and of course I had to go. This was my second exclusive event — the first being a food tasting at Sanjo — and each one has given me a deeper appreciation for how restaurants showcase their creativity to content creators and tastemakers.

The Event

Originally, 20 people were confirmed, but only 9 showed up. That made the evening more intimate, and the staff treated us exceptionally well. Our waiter, Tanzie, was an absolute standout — attentive, charming, and professional. Service across the board was impeccable.

The Menu Highlights

We were spoiled with a multi-course journey:

  • Starters: Jonya Xeviche, Eggplant with Miso, Homemade Tofu

  • Signature Dishes: Shrimp Toast, Prime Beef Tongue

  • Small Plates (Izayara Kozara): Duck Breast, Ganmodoki, Chicken Namdan

  • Robata Yaki: Tsukune, Lamb Chop, Shrimp, Oyster, Mushroom

  • Sushi & Rice: Hot Stone Wagyu Rice

  • Dessert: Matcha Tiramisu, Ube Mont Blanc

I don’t eat raw fish, lamb, beef, or pork, but I still sampled nearly everything in small bites. Slim and trim, but satisfied!

Creative Libations

The drink menu was just as inventive as the food. From Matcha Lychee to Kiwi Sparkler, each beverage felt like a mood board in a glass. While others enjoyed cocktails, I stuck with hot tea and non-alcoholic options — balance is key.

Final Thoughts

Presentation was excellent, service was flawless, and the atmosphere was vibrant. I give Robata JINYA Hollywood five stars.

But here’s my PSA: if you’re an influencer, content creators ttending media days or soft openings, always leave a tip. Servers work hard to make these experiences memorable, and walking out without tipping is disrespectful. A couple at our table did just that, and it left a sour note.

It’s not just good manners, it’s part of honoring the hospitality that makes these events possible.

Closing Note

From Sanjo’s food tasting to Robata JINYA’s grand opening, these events remind me that food is more than flavor — it’s community, creativity, and respect. And respect includes tipping your servers.
